As a general policy, no personal information is automatically collected from visitors to this site. If your child voluntarily provides us with any requested information, we use that information for the purpose of providing the services or information they have requested.
Some of the information voluntarily provided as part of your child's reply to any competitions or offers communicated on our website may be provided to third party vendors for processing. Unfortunately, we cannot always exercise control over their use of the information.
We will take reasonable steps to keep all information as secure as possible against unauthorised access and use and all information will be protected by our security measures, which are periodically reviewed.
When visitors to the website wish to contact us we will require their name, and email address. When they wish to submit a Joke to the site their county is also requested.
We also offer e-cards to our visitors. The names and e-mail addresses of both the sender and the recipient are required. |
Mi Gang
To join 'Mi Gang', users will be required to provide us with their first name, gender, age and email address. They then create a nickname that will be used on the site (It is stated that their real name should not be used).
When your child sends us information that they wish to have published on the website and we choose to display it, their nickname is used as a means of identification rather than their real name or any other personal details.
To enter certain competitions or contests, we may ask a child if they're a boy or a girl, or ask them what they like and don't like in general - hobbies, activities, taste preferences, school interests, pets, and the like.
We will have monthly polls in the Mi Gang section of the website. Information can be provided anonymously and won't be associated with a member's name, e-mail address or other details. Some sections, such as Mi News, offer children a chance to express themselves creatively by sending or e-mailing stories or pictures. We will not post pictures of children with personally identifying information online (such as full name, home address, or e-mail address) without parental consent. |
Links to other sites
It is our policy to link only to other sites which follow careful policies on interactive marketing, nevertheless, we are not responsible for the content or information collection practices of any other site. |

Safe Surfing
The principle sources of concern for parents and guardians are what can be viewed or read online, who can be "met" online and the follow-on implications, and software and virus download issues. Spamming (unsolicited junk email) can also be a concern as it can waste both time and resources, but although inconvenient, this is one of the lesser concerns.
The simplest way to tackle Internet issues is to talk with your child so that you can set up rules for going online. Discuss your concerns and their implications with them and establish general rules for using the Internet. This will allow them to understand the reasoning behind your rules and enable them to use the World Wide Web in a safer manner. Establish what is acceptable and unacceptable, and make clear what the penalties for misuse will be.
One of the key concerns of many parents relates to the use of Chat Rooms. Decide whether you want your child to use chat rooms and discussion groups. They can be fun to use, encourage interactivity and be a great source of companionship and shared interests resources. However, they also have the potential to cause concern. We recommend the following guidelines for children when using chat rooms:
- Do not give out any personal information such as address, telephone number, the name and location of your school, or the work address / telephone number of your parents.
- Do not respond in any way to messages that are mean or that make you feel uncomfortable. Ignore the sender and end all communication. It is not your fault if you get a message like that and if you do, tell your parents straight away so that they can contact the service provider.
- Tell your parents immediately if you come across any people online who make you feel uncomfortable.
- Never send a person your picture, contact details, or anything else without first checking that this is all right.
- Never ever agree to meet with someone you have "met" online without permission from your parents.
