There is huge excitement in the little village of Rylane in North Cork this week following the news that the pupils of Rylane National School won not only the Regional Award for Munster, but also the overall prize in the 2003 MiWadi Cultural Awards.
The 9 lucky winners came up to a special ceremony in Dublin last week, where they were presented with their lovely awards and €2000 for their school by Eileen Dunne from RTE and Jane Fortune from
MiWadi.
The students had done their project on their local heroes in Rylane - these included an All-Ireland weight lifter, an All-Ireland Plough champion, an All-Ireland camogie-player champion and the oldest man in Rylane, who is 90 years old!
